The 2008 Auction Painting |
|
Heavy downpours the last night of the Back Mountain Library Auction were not enough to dampen the spirit of the attendees, even though it postponed the sale of the Auction Art. Everything went off without a hitch on the “extra” night, as the weather cooperated, as did the bidders! |

As you may know, Sue Hand paints on location at the Back Mountain Memorial Library for 3 long evenings (and during those same days at her studio). She then donates the painting, to be auctioned off on Sunday night, the final night of the 4-day event. She has done this for the past 18 years or more.
This year we were rained (or better put DELUGED) out on the final night, so the painting went off Monday night after the Auction Committee decided to continue the auction starting at 6:00. The food booths were open as well as the other auction tents, and Sue’s painting went off at 8 pm. There was spirited bidding as the amount climbed quickly from the two thousands through the three and four thousands, and finally wound up at $6,400. Thanks to all those who bid and special thanks to Dr John and Cathy Shaskas for their winning bid to benefit the Back Mountain Memorial Library.
See you There!
