FALL/WINTER SESSION

We currently have a waiting list for new art students; contact us to be added to the waiting list.

  • Do you have art classes for adults?
Yes. September through May we offer both daytime classes (Thursday and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 - 3:00 p.m.) and evening classes (Monday and Tuesday evenings 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.).
  • Do you have art classes for teens?
Yes. September through May our classes for this age group meet Monday through Friday after school as well as three classes on Saturday. Our art classes are geared for the teen who enjoys art, but plans a different career, as well as those who are college-bound for art. Homework is assigned each week. We expect our students to paint and/or draw at home as well as here in the studio. Times for teen art classes are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday after school from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. or 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.; Saturday: 10 – 12 noon; 12 – 2 p.m.; 2 – 4 p.m.
  • Do you have art classes for children?
Yes. We are currently accepting students who are in grade 5 or older. During the months of September through May, our classes for children in 5th and 6th grades meet Monday through Friday after school. Our classes are geared for the exceptional child who is truly interested in art and learning to draw and paint realistically. We do not expect our students to be incredibly talented, but we expect them to be interested in art and have a sufficient attention span for art projects. All children are given weekly homework assignments. Times for these classes are as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday: 4 – 5 p.m.; 5 – 6 p.m. Class meets once a week.
  • How much do art lessons at the Imagery cost?
For the first 24 months of instruction, tuition is $88.00 per student per calendar month and is due the first class of each month. After 24 paid months, a student becomes an “old timer” and tuition is reduced to $76.00 per calendar month. Many Imagery students have been with us for years! In case of holidays, tuition is adjusted accordingly.
  • If I miss a class, do I still have to pay?
Yes. There are no refunds or credits for classes missed, but instruction time may be “made up” in other classes during any month the student is paying regular tuition. We do appreciate knowing in advance if you will miss a class since we can then schedule a make up for someone else in your time slot. We cannot “save” places for students who temporarily discontinue taking classes for vacation, band, sports, etc. unless tuition is paid for the classes.
  • How long do classes run?
Art classes meet regularly throughout the year. During the fall, winter, and spring months, students of all levels work together in the same room on individual drawing and painting projects. In the summer, a more specialized schedule is offered which includes different ability levels and media instruction. Summer schedules are available in late April.
  • What art mediums are taught at the Imagery?
Younger children work in pencil, colored pencil, pastel, watercolor, and mixed media. Teens and adults may choose to work in graphite, ink, charcoal, pastel, conte, colored pencil, watercolor pencil, transparent watercolor, casein, gouache, acrylic, oil, alkyd, scratchboard and mixed media.
  • Do I need to have my own art supplies?
Yes. Currently enrolled students may purchase supplies at Sue Hand’s Imagery at a 20% discount.
